Chimney Pots, Cowls and Guards

Chimney Pots, Cowls and Guards in Gerrards Cross, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and the Chalfonts

Chimney pots:

A chimney pot is an inexpensive way to extend the height of the chimney and to improve the draught. There are various reasons to fit a new pot which include:

  • Broken or damaged chimney pot.
  • A pot that has been removed to accomodate a gas installation.
  • The pot has been removed and the flue capped.

Armstrong Chimneys can supply and install a new chimney pot that will match the existing pots as best we can.

Cowls and Bird Guards:

Whilst in essence, chimneys should be left as unrestricted as possible, the fitting of terminals is often the answer to counter problems with the installation. We have a vast knowledge in this area and will be able to advise and install the correct one for the application.

Some of the main reasons to fit a terminal:

  • Downdraughts pushing gases into the room
  • Birds, Squirrels or vermin entering the chimney
  • Rain entering the chimney often causing damp or breaking down the existing lining
  • Loss of heat through unused chimneys
  • Stronger draw needed, due to shorter flues (especially in bungalows)
  • Specialist terminals or spark arrestors for a thatch roof

Some of the Terminals we supply and fit are:

  • G.C.1 Terminals
  • Class 1 antidowndraught cowls
  • Bird and Vermin gaurds
  • Rotor Vents
  • Vented flue caps
